The Card Players is a series of oil paintings by Paul Cézanne, who was a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter. It was painted in early 1890’s There are five paintings in the series. The versions vary in size and in the number of players depicted. This is the last version of this famous composition by Paul still in private hands. The fabulous psychological intensity in the faces of the players make this painting a masterpiece of post-impressionist art. It was sold in 2011 for a price variously estimated at between $250 million and $300 million, making it the most expensive work of art ever sold
